Thursday, June 2 - Holi Festival

Hello! Today we had an unexpected day off with construction work halted due to the Holi festival for the nearby villages. We had a relaxing start to our day with sleeping in, eating a variety of fruits for breakfast, and spending time planning our weekend trip to Pondicherry!

A few of our team members were feeling a bit under the weather so only David, Kajal, and I (Katelyn) went to visit Kalathupatty. We assessed the progress on the site and documented a few changes in the plans that the contractor initiated. We also hydrated the mortar paste in the brick walls to give it ample moisture for curing.

After visiting the project site, we were drawn into the Holi festival as we were on our way home from Kalathupatty. We joined in on the excitement of visiting the temple, dancing, and watching the ceremonial march, and we also got our fair share of color spread on us along the way.

For the last part of the celebration, we joined in on the parade as the festival-goers began heading towards a nearby water hole for the festival finale. We weren’t able to stay because of a storm that blew in, but overall we had a great time and headed back to our house to update the rest of the team on our adventure.

Our evening concluded with a team dinner, a review of our weekend plans, and a team bonding game before we settled in for another night sleeping under the stars.
