To start off our trip to Pondicherry the team decided to grab breakfast at an Italian and French restaurant right off the shore. After so much Indian food the last few weeks it was nice to share french toast and milkshakes.
Since our Kodaikanal trip was a bit hectic, the team made sure that this trip was more restful than the last and immediately went back to the hotel to rest before our first trip to the beach. We spent hours at the Promenade Beach swimming in the sea, searching for seashells (Claire was a pro), racing clams, and taking selfies (big surprise).
For dinner the team washed up for a fancy dinner just down the street at Dupleix. Here we got to experience the cities seafood varieties as well as their Indian, Italian, and French cuisine.
Due to it's colonial history, Pondicherry is largely inlfuenced by European culture and cuisine, but also mixes these influences with Indian dishes and trends. Throughout the city we could still see evidence of its prior French occupation from statues, monuments, and the many people that spoke french.
After dinner we went out for some delicious gelato on the shore and headed back to the hotel. Since it was the last night that the entire team would be together we had a movie night in and watched Mamma Mia together (or at least we all saw the very beginning). Overall it was a great day exploring the city and getting to take in all the unique dishes of Pondicherry.
