Wednesay, May 25th - ATX->MAA!!!

Hello everyone! Welcome to our Projects with Underserved Communities Team India blog for 2021-2022. We are excited to be starting the implementation phase of our project and plan to post daily updates as we travel in Tamil Nadu, India, and work with the Kalatupatty community to build a new library.

After over 30 hours of travel, our team arrived in Chennai on Wednesay, May 25th exhausted but excited to finally be in India! We have spent the past couple days exploring the city with local shopping, lots of diverse meals, and a relaxing trip to the beach.

We have also spent time with our host non-profit organization, CASA, learning about their mission, meeting the CASA team we will be working with, and getting an introduction to diverse Indian history, cultures, religions, and foods.

As we were leaving our meeting with CASA, we met a local Lutheran church group who invited us into their church to learn about its history and get to know their vacation bible study students.

After wrapping up our time in Chennai with a team dinner, we are looking forward to traveling through Southern India and finally making it to the Kalatupatty village tomorrow!
